PUTATAN: Dr. Afifi Saif has urged voters to give an opportunity to new leadership that is cleaner and based on integrity in the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election (PRN).

“On 29 November, give these fresh faces the chance to lead the state,” said the PERIKATAN NASIONAL (PN) candidate for the Petagas state seat.

He made the remark following a brief and unexpected meeting with another candidate contesting in the same constituency yesterday.

“The short but cordial encounter reflects the political maturity increasingly demanded by the people, far from the culture of hostility and endless conflict,” he said during a visit.

According to him, the meeting showed that even though the parties and approaches differ, the goal remains the same which is to serve the people.

“We may belong to different parties or think differently, but the greater purpose remains one: to defend the people.

“In Petagas, we don’t want politics of quarrels, politics of insults, or politics of revenge. The people are tired of grand speeches without real solutions,” he said.

He stressed that Petagas needs politics that leads to solutions, not politics that hunts for mistakes for personal interests.

“What the people need now is politics that shows a way forward, not politics that looks for faults. That is why I am offering my service through PERIKATAN NASIONAL as a fresh and new candidate,” he explained.

Dr. Afifi also emphasized that leadership today must be rooted in knowledge, integrity, and action, not rhetoric or personal attacks.

“We want to focus on solutions, not sensationalism. We want to find ways to ‘Kasi Bagus Petagas’ (Make Petagas Better), not add more problems. The people no longer want politics trapped in digging up the mistakes of former representatives.

“People’s issues must be solved with good character, not harsh words,” he said. Dr. Afifi is facing nine other candidates in the Petagas state seat.

He reaffirmed PN’s commitment to bringing mature and stable politics to Petagas.

“We want politics that fixes roads, not politics that creates dead ends. We want politics that helps the people, not divides them. We want politics that works, not politics that performs theatrics,” he added.

“On 29 November, give these new faces a chance to bring Petagas towards a better future,” he said. — HARAKAHDAILY, 21/11/2025
