KOTA BHARU – All Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB) water treatment plants (LRAs) will operate at maximum capacity with a total production of up to 519 million litres per day (MLD) to meet the increase in demand during Aidilfitri celebration.
AKSB, in a statement today, said that it is also implementing a project to replace and rehabilitate tube wells which are still under construction and are expected to be completed before Aidilfitri.
“With the completion of this project, an additional 14 MLD will be available and will increase the production of treated water to 533 MLD to parts of the Kota Bharu and Bachok districts,” it said.
According to AKSB, scheduled maintenance works at the LRAs that could result in the reduction of production will be postponed.
It will also ensure that the stock of chemicals in the LRAs is sufficient for the operation of the plants during Aidilfitri celebration.
“A total of 443 static tanks with a capacity of 500 to 2,000 gallons each are placed at strategic locations statewide, namely in areas with low pressure and often experience water supply disruptions.
“These tanks will enable consumers to obtain treated water supply in the event of a disruption,” read the statement.
AKSB also provided nine water tanker trucks with an additional 22 trucks statewide to deliver water to the tanks as well as to consumers who face water supply disruptions.
