KOTA BHARU – The Kelantan branch of the Keluarga Malaysia Civil Defence Emergency Response Teams (CDERT) aims to organise more training sessions for its members and media practitioners in the state.

Kelantan Civil Defence Force (APM) deputy director Lt Col (PA) Mohd Zul Khairi Shamsuddin said the training sessions would cover cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid training as well as disaster risk reduction.

“So far, we have trained 12 people after the Kelantan Keluarga Malaysia CDERT was launched early this month. We will continue to provide training in stages to help volunteers to be more efficient in providing assistance, especially in cases involving the community,” he said when met recently.

Mohd Zul Khairi said the training would enable volunteers to be prepared for any possibilities at all times.

“We also plan to collaborate with the Kelantan Broadcasting Department to provide exposure to media practitioners on first aid knowledge and training,” he said.

A volunteer, Ahmad Termizi said the training programme would enable participants to gather input directly from instructors and share it with the local community.
