
MELAKA CITY: Dewan Himpunan Pendukung PAS (DHPP) of Melaka has held the Melaka State DHPP Convention which witnessed the successful formation of the Melaka State DHPP Committee for the new session 2025-2027.
With the attendance of 35 people, the convention was officiated by the Head of DHPP Melaka YBrs Dr Shawn Loh Sheng Nian at a ceremony held at the Melaka State DHPP Community Service Center, Taman Peringgit Jaya Melaka, here on 15th June 2025.
Interestingly, DHPP Melaka continues to accept membership participation with the latest being most of them are young people who are very enthusiastic where the membership now consists of around 100 active members.
It is understood that at this time, the composition of the membership in this state consists of 75 percent Chinese, with 60 percent of them being young people aged between 20 to 40 years old, and another 25 from Indians.
The convention, which was the Annual General Meeting of the non-Muslim wing of PAS in Melaka, saw Dr Shawn Loh Sheng Nian re-elected to lead the team for another two years.
The delegates who elected also mandated the position of Vice-Chief to Mak Kah Keong, while the State Secretary was entrusted to Cherie Choo and the Assistant Secretary to Roger Tan Leong Chew.
The Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer are Chan Ti Hoe and Lee Kok Seng respectively, while the Information Chief is Dr Tony Khoo Nee Kah, while the Youth Chief is Murugan A/L Krishnan, as well as the Women’s Chief, Cherie Choo and her Assistant, Chea Bik Yin.
The State Committee members consist of Lee Fook Sang, Dr Jenn Chan SL, Loh Yeong Nian, Loh Wen Tsae, Kannan A/L Balaram, Lee Kok Kin, Ong Wei Xiong, Yong Sook Fan, Foong Wai Leon.
The meeting also saw all members of the Melaka DHPP express their commitment to continue working together to build racial harmony in the historic land through their roles.
Among the initiatives that will be pursued are to create opportunities, entrepreneurial spaces, skills training and practical economic assistance, as well as cross-cultural forums and religious harmony projects, as well as focusing on the needs of the grassroots community.
Vice-Chief of the Melaka DHPP, Mak Kah Keong also presented proposals to address problems occurring in the community or community of residents, such as the recent murder case in Bukit Rambai.
He proposed several initiatives to address family problems, psychological counselling courses, and youth health activities to reduce the irresistible pressure on people to survive.
“So that they do not easily do things that hurt themselves or others,” he said, who was clearly sorry that such tragedies occurred, which is an indication that people’s lives are affected by many things now.
Dr Shawn Loh, in his speech, said that social media would continue to be the main source of correct information for each ethnic group to better understand their respective cultures and not for political confrontation.
“Politics is not only a space to show a good image in the eyes of society, but also a field to fight for policies and actions to improve the fate of the people. Politics is a responsibility, not a stage for performance,” he said.
He insisted that caring about the welfare of the people and national development is a task that must be carried out by every leader who has the people’s heart. – HARAKAHDAILY, 19/6/2025
