KUALA LUMPUR : The upcoming ‘Turun Anwar’ rally organised by the Dewan Pemuda PAS on 26 July in the capital is seen as a clear expression of public frustration towards the many failures of Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s administration.

This rally must be supported by all who value truth and desire a change towards more transparent and accountable leadership.

PAS Central Information Chief, Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, said the rally is not merely a protest against the proposed Urban Renewal Act (URA), but more importantly, it carries a broader message on the urgent need to realign the country’s direction, which he claimed has veered off course under the Madani government.

“This rally stems from the awareness that the root cause of various national problems – from the failure of promised reforms, suppression of free speech, to the rising cost of living – all point to the failed leadership of one individual: Anwar Ibrahim,” he told Harakahdaily.

He also noted that Anwar’s government is on shaky ground, with his party, PKR, holding only a small portion of seats in the overall ruling coalition.

“There are even voices among Pakatan Harapan component party leaders who are starting to ask: if not Anwar, then who? Such questions reflect a lack of understanding or confusion about our country’s administrative system.

“If the Prime Minister resigns, the Deputy Prime Minister can assume duties, or the Yang di-Pertuan Agong may appoint any Member of Parliament whom he believes commands the majority support. Are those asking this question implying that the current Deputy Prime Minister is unfit to replace Anwar?” he questioned.

Ahmad Fadhli, who is also the Member of Parliament for Pasir Mas, stressed that an overreliance on a single individual – as though no one else is capable of leading the country – is a mindset dangerous to democracy.

“We do not intend to disrupt national stability, but the people have the right to express their disappointment towards a Prime Minister who has failed to fulfill promises, has betrayed the reformist slogans he once championed, and is increasingly burdening the lives of ordinary Malaysians,” he asserted.

He also urged all Malaysians to attend the rally peacefully and with discipline, to send a clear message that the era of exploiting the people’s trust must come to an end. – HARAKAHDAILY 15/6/2025
