CHUKAI – PAS Deputy President Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has indicated that the party has a significant agenda in selecting Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar as the candidate for the Kemaman parliamentary by-election (PRK).
Tuan Ibrahim emphasized Ahmad Samsuri’s excellent track record in governing Terengganu, suggesting that if he wins the parliamentary seat, he could contribute to the country.
According to Tuan Ibrahim, Ahmad Samsuri’s appointment aligns with a larger agenda set by PAS central committee.
He stated that winning in Kemaman is not the sole objective; rather, the party aims for Ahmad Samsuri to contribute not only to Terengganu but also to Malaysia if he secures the parliamentary seat.
Tuan Ibrahim highlighted the importance of having a Menteri Besar in Parliament to address state administration affairs and central government matters.
He referenced similar practices in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Penang, where the Menteri Besar and Chief Minister also serve as Members of Parliament.
The move to nominate Ahmad Samsuri in the Kemaman Parliamentary by-election has sparked discussions about his potential candidacy for the future Prime Minister position within Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Ahmad Samsuri dismissed these claims as normal in politics.
