KUALA NERUS – The Terengganu government will open applications for the one-off assistance for youth and students or ‘i-Belia’ from Sept 18 to Oct 7.
State Youth Development, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations Committee chairman Wan Sukairi Wan Abdullah said i-Belia is a state government initiative to help young people, as tabled by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar in the 2022 Budget in November last year.
Wan Sukairi said a total of 135,974 recipients are expected to benefit from the aid, estimated to be more than RM20 million.
“There are two categories for this aid, namely single youth and students. For the single youth category, applications are also open to those living in other states who meet the specified conditions.
“Each eligible applicant will receive a one-off assistance of RM150, which will be paid in cash from Oct 30 to Nov 30 this year,” he said in a press conference here.
Wan Sukairi said among the conditions set was that the applicant must be a citizen of Terengganu, aged between 18 and 39 and a registered voter in the state.
In addition, the applicant must not be a state or federal government employee and must have personal information in the Profil Rakyat Terengganu (PRT20) system.
“For applicants in the single youth category who are already working, their monthly income must not exceed RM1,500, while for those who are not working, the total monthly income of their parents or guardians must not exceed RM2,500.
“For the student category, applications are only open to students at public or private institutions in the country,” he said.
He said the public could visit http://ibantuan.terengganu.gov.my to submit applications or obtain more information and details on the condition of the aid. – Bernama
