KOTA KINABALU: PERIKATAN NASIONAL (PN) candidate for the Karambunai state seat, Datuk Dr. Aliakbar Gulasan, has outlined 10 key development offers formulated through the acronym KARAMBUNAI as a roadmap for the constituency’s future if should he be given the mandate on November 29.
He said these offers were crafted in response to the people’s questions regarding the direction of new leadership in Karambunai, and thus provide a clear, comprehensive and people-centric plan.
“Each offer is designed with the commitment that every resident of Karambunai will feel the progress, be valued and that no one will be left behind,” said Dr. Aliakbar, who is also a former Appointed Assemblyman during PRN16.
He added that the offers represent early efforts to lay a more structured foundation for long-term wellbeing of the broader Karambunai community.
“I believe that when we work together, the future of Karambunai will not only be better, but far more outstanding,” he said in a statement on his official Facebook page today.
He explained the KARAMBUNAI acronym as follows:
K – Kerja Kuat Untuk Semua (Hard Work for All):
Establishing the Karambunai People’s Welfare Fund, transforming the constituency into an education hub, and implementing skills and training programmes to open more economic opportunities.
A – Akauntabiliti, Telus dan Bebas Skandal (Accountable, Transparent & Scandal-Free):
He pledges to present a 100-Day ADUN Report, biannual performance reports, and hold rakyat dialogue sessions every six months to ensure open and responsible governance.
R – Rakyat Karambunai Diutamakan (People of Karambunai First):
Establishing a Mobile Service Centre, Digital Feedback Portal, Academic Excellence Centre, and Community Safety Programmes to protect and empower local residents.
A – Akses Kemudahan Diperluas (Expanded Access to Facilities):
Focusing on upgrading infrastructure including roads, lighting, clean water, internet, and improving jetties for fishing communities who rely on them economically.
M – Maju Ekonomi Setempat (Local Economy Advancement):
Offering the creation of a Main Community Market for local entrepreneurs, women’s entrepreneurship programmes, digital training, branding support, and buyer-network access to strengthen household incomes.
B – Belia dan Anak Muda Diperkasa (Youth Empowerment):
Introducing youth development programmes, NGO partnerships, a biannual sports league (football, e-sports, netball), and academic/career mentorship initiatives to support the younger generation.
U – Upaya Semua Segmen Komuniti (Empowering All Community Segments):
Providing support for single mothers, widows, and working women through craft training workshops, micro-digital skills, and inclusive economic empowerment programmes.
N – Nilai Keluarga dan Keselamatan (Family Values & Safety):
Proposing the creation of the ALERT Squad for safety and emergency readiness, along with financial literacy and family wellbeing programmes to strengthen community institutions.
A – Alam Sekitar Lestari (Sustainable Environment):
Promoting sustainability efforts and ecotourism in Karambunai, including developing “Karambunai Tourism Wonders” as a tourism attraction that benefits the local community.
I – Inklusif Untuk Semua (Inclusive for All):
Introducing mobile health screening programmes and cross-cultural initiatives to foster unity and harmony among residents of diverse backgrounds.
Dr. Aliakbar described the 10 offers as the first step towards the major positive changes envisioned for Karambunai, and urged the people to choose solution-driven politics through PN.
