KUALA LUMPUR – After scoring a hat-trick in the FA Cup competition yesterday, FAM-MSN Project Squad striker Muhammad Haikal Sahar now dreams of playing in the Super League.

Muhammad Haikal stole the spotlight when he emerged the hero with a hat-trick in the first round action when his team defeated Tok Janggut Warrios FC 5-1 at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Cheras.

The 19-year-old said his main mission is to score more goals after this, as well as follow in the footsteps of the team’s former striker, Azhad Harraz Arman, who is now with Super League club Sabah FC.

“This is a blessing from the prayers of my parents, and support from teammates as well. Although I had just recovered being positive for COVID-19, I did feel a little weak initially but it did not take me long to get back into shape.

“I am determined to not only score goals but I want to prove my ability even though I am still young. If possible, I want to go further, InsyaAllah, maybe after this things will be more brighter for me,” he said in a statement issued by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) today.

Meanwhile, the squad’s head coach Hassan Sazali Waras praised the team for showing a good performance to record a big victory.

“Maybe with the hat -trick scored by Muhammad Haikal, it can inspire the other players to hunt for more goals in their next matches,” he said.

At the same time, he does not want to place the burden of scoring goals on the shoulders of one striker alone, instead wants all players to also show the ability to net goals.

“We in the team will not expect only one individual to score goals and if we look at who scored the fifth goal, he (Ubaidullah Shamsul) is not a striker but he is also capable of doing so.

“So I will emphasise that all players can score goals after this, this victory is a good tonic for them for in the future,” he said.

The FAM-MSN Project Squad next face Kelantan FC this Friday in a Premier League match at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Cheras.
