KUALA LUMPUR – Siti Nurshuhaini Azman and Tan Zhing Yi have won all their matches in the BAM Internal Junior Ranking group stage so far and will next face each other to decide the group winner.
Siti Nurshuhaini and Zhing Yi have won four matches each in the Girls’ Singles Group A, and have a match in hand to decide the top two positions in the group.
Zhing Yi, who toiled to beat Ong Xin Yee 21-15, 2-21, 22-20 today, said winning or losing is not important in tomorrow’s match as she just wants to give her best and enjoy the game.
“In the first set, she followed my pace but in the second, I made many errors and could not get the points. I grabbed the early lead in the decider but she recovered and moved past me.
“Towards the end, she showed signs of fatigue and that paved the way for me to win,” she said in a statement.
Siti Nurshuhaini secured her fourth victory after beating Chan Wen Tse 21-12, 21-17.
In the Boys’ Singles category Group A, three players – Justin Hoh, Eogene Eon and Ong Zhen Yi – will be battling it out tomorrow for the precious top two spots in the group.
Justin kept his hopes on track when he convincingly beat Muhd Fazriq Mohd Razif 21-14, 21-16 today, while Eogene was pushed to the edge before getting past Zhen Yi 22-20, 18-21, 21-14.
Tomorrow, Justin needs to beat V. Poopathy while Eogene has to defeat Chua Kim Sheng to assure themselves the top two spots.
In Group B, Jan Jireh Lee leads the standings after winning his fifth match today, beating Lok Hong Quan 21-11, 21-12.
However, he has to await the outcome of the matches involving Anson Cheong and Rex Hooi Shao Herng tomorrow to know his final standing.
