“We detained a local man and two foreigners in the first raid at a parking lot in Puchong.

“We found 13 Chinese tea packets containing a drug believed to be syabu weighing 13.39 kilogrammes (kg) worth RM602,550 and 13,900 ecstasy pills in 13 plastic packets valued at RM250,200.

“Further investigations led to the second raid on a house in Kuchai Lama. A local man was detained with 10 packets of heroin weighing 4.4 kg worth RM48,000,” he said at a press conference held online today.

However, no seizures or arrests were made in the raid on a house in Cheras.

Arjunaidi said the drugs were sourced from a neighbouring country and that, although the two locals dealt with the same supplier, they did not know one another.

He said further investigations found that the syndicate had been actively selling drugs in the Klang Valley since November, adding that the two local suspects, who had several drug-related offences, also tested positive for syabu.

“All the suspects, aged 44 to 60, have been remanded until Wednesday and investigation is being conducted under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.

Nabbed for online gambling

In Kuala Lumpur, police have nabbed 68 individuals suspected of being involved in online gambling activities at 12 condominiums around the Dang Wangi area here during the Movement Control Order (MCO) from Jan 13 until yesterday (Feb 7).

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said all the suspects, aged 18 to 45, comprised 16 locals and 52 foreign nationals.

“They used the modus operandi of renting a luxury condominium, with a monthly rental of between RM2,000 and RM6,000, from where they will operate a gambling centre.

“The (gambling) activity was detected running daily from 9 am to 11 pm,” he said in a statement today.

He said that in the raid, police also seized 39 computers, 238 mobile phones and RM81,539 in cash.

A total of 12 investigation papers have been opened involving five cases that have been charged in court while seven others are still under investigation, he said.

“All suspects are being investigated under Section 4 (1)(c) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Section 15(1)(c) of the same act,” he added.

Arrested while partying

Meanwhile in Butterworth, police arrested 16 youths, seven of whom were girls, for allegedly having a wild party involving drugs at a rented apartment unit in Jalan Assumption here early today.

Seberang Perai Utara (SPU) District Police chief ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said all the suspects, aged between 15 and 21, were high on drugs when the apartment unit, which was turned into a discotheque, was raided.

“Initial investigation found that they rented the apartment for three days and two nights for RM360 to hold the drug-fuelled party, while hoping to escape from being detected by the authorities, especially during the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO),” he told Bernama here.

He said police have also seized various types of drugs, including ketamine and syabu, drug paraphernalia, as well as LED lights, microphone and speakers, during the raid.

Noorzainy said 15 of them were tested positive for drugs, including a 15-year-old schoolgirl, while three male suspects have previous criminal records.

“Those arrested were either factory workers, self-employed or unemployed,” he said, adding that further investigations were being done under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2020 for violating the MCO.
