
On March 22-23, 2022, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will host the 48th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, with the subject (Building Partnerships for Unity, Justice, and Development).
Many economic, cultural, social, humanitarian, and scientific topics, including Islamophobia, will be discussed during the session. The Session will also address a number of political issues, including the current situation in Afghanistan and its humanitarian implications for the Afghan people, as well as the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The struggle in Jammu Kashmir Province is approaching its 72nd year, and there is still no end in sight. This battle has resulted in a significant number of casualties, property loss, and significant economic impact, particularly on the inhabitants of this unstable region.
The province of Jammu Kashmir is still a source of contention between India and Pakistan, and China has never been immune to wars, military conflicts, or popular uprisings demanding Kashmir’s independence from India.
On December 12, India modified the Citizenship Act of 1955, which went against the republic’s values by making religion the basis of citizenship. Only Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Persians, and Christians from Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Pakistan are granted citizenship under the new Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Muslims are not allowed to participate. Such action will further worsen the conflict gap which already at worrying stage at the moment.
Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) suggests and urge Muslim nations attending the 48th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) Meeting in Islamabad, Pakistan, take use of the opportunity to genuinely debate the best way to resolve the Jammu Kashmir problem.
Let us all pray for the restoration of peace and stability in Jammu & Kashmir.
