This was Muhammad Ikhwan second successive victory over Thomas, having beaten him 22-20, 22-24, 21-17 at the Spanish Para Badminton International II in Vitoria on March 6.

However, Muhammad Ikhwan, who returned to the court later, missed out on an opportunity to win his second title of the day in the men’s doubles WH1-WH2.

Despite taking the first game 22-20, Muhammad Ikhwan and Noor Azwan Noorlan failed to maintain their domination in the next two games as they went down 19-21, 12-21 to Daiki Kajiwara-Keita Nishimura of Japan.
