JOHOR BAHRU – Entrepreneurs in the B40 group who have not yet registered their businesses are asked to take advantage of the Prihatin Business Registration Scheme (SPPP) to fast-track various benefits provided by the government and related agencies.
Johor Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) Operations Division executive Sri Nor Indah Sarmon said business registration was important to facilitate entrepreneurs when applying for various funds offered by government agencies, besides giving buyers confidence in the transactions carried out.
In addition, it also allows entrepreneurs to exercise their legal rights in the event of untoward incidents occurring in the business.
“From observations, many entrepreneurs are still unaware of the importance of registering a business. They only realise its significance when they want to apply for assistance because the agency or bank will ask for proof of active business registration,” she told Bernama at the Malaysian Family Aspirations (AKM) programme at Dataran Angsana here today.
In addition, the process to register a business was not as complicated as expected as transactions could be made online through the ezbiz.ssm.com.my link.
In fact, according to Sri Nor Indah, through SPPP, entrepreneurs are exempted from paying a RM30 fee for registration of sole proprietorship in their own name, RM60 (registration of sole proprietorship or joint venture) and RM10 (printing of business information).
“Apart from the B40 group, SPPP is also targeted at entrepreneurs among full-time students of institutions of higher learning (IPT) and we hope to publicise this facility widely to more local entrepreneurs through AKM,” she said.
Earlier, SSM chief executive officer Nor Azimah Abdul Aziz was reported to have targeted SPPP to benefit 180,000 B40 entrepreneurs and IPT students to venture into business.
Since its introduction in December 2020 till April last year, only a total of 4,447 applications have been approved comprising sole proprietorship and partnership businesses.
