KUALA LUMPUR – The Career Carnival, which is part of the #KeluargaMalaysia 100-Day Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family Aspirations) is a ray of hope and platform for graduates and individuals looking for employment during the challenging COVID-19 period.

Universiti Tenaga Nasional graduate Juliana Johari, 24, who graduated more than a year ago, hoped to get a job through the carnival which involved more than 50 employers from various fields of employment.

Juliana said apart from getting exposure and information, it was the first time she had physically attended such a carnival and attended an interview with an accounting firm at the carnival.

“It is difficult to find a job, especially one that commensurates with qualification during COVID-19, so I will take whatever opportunity I have,” she said when met at the carnival here today.

A visitor who only wanted to be known as Mohd Anas, 20, said apart from job opportunities, the carnival which entered the second day also offered the opportunity to undergo industrial training for students of the Institutes of Higher Learning.

The Mahsa University student said although he could get information through online platforms, the carnival made it easier for him to get information clearly.

“I can fill out forms straight away, send resumes and other documents, and can even ask the employer directly at the kiosk,” he said, who intends to work in the field of accounting at a food and beverage company.

Mahsa University lecturer Farha Zafira Agos Lokman, 30, said the carnival is timely and gives good exposure to youths looking for jobs.

“Youths can meet prospective employers and evaluate job opportunities that meet their interests and abilities,” said Farha who also brought seven students with her.

Meanwhile, Seoul Garden restaurant country manager Jeorje Tan, 50, said the carnival coincided with the company’s situation which needed more employees to fill vacancies in branches in several states.

“At the moment our sales are increasing but we are experiencing a shortage of employees, so this platform is ideal to recruit as many new employees as possible,” he said.

The #KeluargaMalaysia 100-Day Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) for four days starting yesterday, from 9 am to 10 pm.

Organised by the Shared Prosperity Delivery Unit (SEPADU) of the Prime Minister’s Department, it featured a gallery of the ministry’s achievements, aid programmes, ministry and agency exhibitions, cultural performances, as well as exhibitions and sales by entrepreneurs.
