Accompanying him to Latvia was his son Syed Sirajuddin Areeb Putra.

Also in attendance at the event was UniMAP vice-chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Zaliman Sauli.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin is leading the 17th UniMAP Knowledge Tour delegation to the Baltic countries (Latvia and Estonia) from Sept 10 to 17.

He said, at the same time, UniMAP will also emphasise the exploration of endowment funds (investment funds) as one of the significant instruments to continue to preserve the growth of the university in the future.

Earlier, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin witnessed the exchange of agreement documents between the two universities.

UniMAP was represented by Dr Zaliman while Riga Technical University was represented by its rector Prof Dr Talis Juhna. It marked the start of the collaboration between the two universities.

Riga Technical University is one of the largest technical universities in the Baltic countries, comprising Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.

Meanwhile, at a separate ceremony with students at the University of Latvia today, Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, who is also the UniMAP pro-chancellor, told UniMAP to always establish a relationship with the industry along with the implementation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) so that it is always familiar with industry players.

She said close cooperation with the industry must always continue so that UniMAP continues to be recognised by industry players.

“This will in turn create great opportunities for UniMAP students to be offered jobs in various sectors even when they have not yet graduated,” she said.

She also hopes that this good and close relationship with the industry will give UniMAP an advantage to continue to accept more industry people who choose to continue their studies in professional fields at UniMAP.
