“Among the equipment delivered today are two units of boats equipped with engines, 1,000 units of disaster relief tents for flood victims, 700 units of life jackets and 7,000 pieces of raincoats.

“Today’s donation is part of 36 boats, 8,800 tents, 5,500 units of life jackets and 55,000 pieces of raincoats donated to 14 states across the country by Petronas,” he said in a statement.

Earlier, M Ahmad Shazly presented the donations to Deputy Menteri Besar, Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, in a ceremony held at Kota Darul Naim, here.

Also present were Kelantan deputy state secretary (Development) Datuk Dr Tengku Mohamed Faziharudean Tengku Feissal and state Civil Defence Force (APM) director, Mohd Adzhar Mujab.

M Ahmad Shazly said that the contribution could help the agencies involved prepare for the monsoon season.

“It is part of Petronas’ commitment to helping flood victims, worth RM25 million, which was announced in December 2021.

“From January to July 2022, the Petronas Foundation is also involved in organising the community-based disaster risk management programme (CBDRM), for the residents of Tumpat in Kelantan and Mukim Ganchong in Pekan, Pahang.

“Preparation training programmes before disasters also help residents in high-risk areas to prepare more systematically to face floods,” he said. – Bernama
