Sabah will have solid federal backing – Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin assured Sabahans that all pledges made during his campaign in the state election will be honoured, and said that the new state government will have the solid backing of the Federal government.

“Everything that has been promised in the campaign will be fulfilled as soon as possible,” the Bersatu president said, while thanking the voters in Sabah for putting their trust in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

GRS secured a simple majority of 38 seats in the 16th Sabah election through Perikatan Nasional (17 seats) Barisan Nasional (14) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (seven).

“With the support you have given, we will ensure the new state leadership will be with Sabahans,” he told newsmen when commenting on GRS’ victory at his residence in Bukit Damansara here late last night.

The prime minister also pledged to take Sabah to greater heights in the future.

Muhyiddin congratulated all successful candidates, and reminded them to carry out the mandate given with integrity, honesty and dedication, as well as honouring their ‘Aku Janji’ pledge.

“I hope they will carry out their responsibility to the best of their ability,” he said.

He also thanked all election workers and volunteers for their hard work throughout the campaign that led to GRS’ victory.
