He said Indonesia has always supported independence for Palestine. Gaza began to attract the attention of the world, including Malaysia’s, when Israel started its attacks in October.

The Communist Party of China (CPC) initiated the dialogue with the aim of achieving fruitful outcomes for participating nations.

The dialogue focuses on “Sharing The Outcomes of the Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation”. It brings together representatives from 23 political parties and 20 organisations and institutions from 18 countries.

Liu Jiamchao, who is head of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese Communist Party, highlighted the ideas presented by political leaders during the seminar and workshop held on Thursday.

“The discussions have generated numerous outcomes, underscoring the robust cooperation that will bring substantial benefits to all participating countries,” he said during his keynote address.

Liu underscored the imperative to enhance collaboration for the well-being of the people. He also emphasised the need for strengthened cooperation in green technology, economy, youth empowerment and digital initiatives through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Under the forum’s theme “BRI: How Can Political Parties Play Their Role?”, speakers agreed that the BRI has significantly contributed to their countries’ economic growth and the well-being of their people.

The panel comprises presidium member of the Bangladesh Awami League and chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Faruk Khan; first vice-chairman of the Commission for External Relations of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party who is also chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media of the National Assembly of Cambodia, Sous Yara, and chairperson of Foreign Affairs of the National Awakening Party Central Leadership Board and member of the House of Representative, Indonesia, Luluk Nur Hamidah.

On concerns about the BRI being labelled a debt trap, Yara stressed that the initiative has brought significant benefits to Cambodia and its people.

He attributed any misunderstandings to misinformation in media reports, emphasising the need for political parties to provide accurate explanations to the public. – Bernama
