IPOH – Muslims are obligated to join hands to ensure the doctrine and teachings of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah are always protected, preserved, understood and practised to ensure harmony of the ummah.
Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah said threats to the doctrine of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah have been openly made by enemies of Islam who hide behind certain spiritual movements and individuals presenting themselves as scholars, teachers, and the like.
“In reality, those individuals are the ones promoting deviant teachings and interpretations that deviate from the true path of Islam. That is why Muslims must join hands to ensure that the doctrine of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jemaah is always protected, preserved, understood and practised.”
Sultan Nazrin said this when gracing the Sultan Nazrin Shah Muzakarah 2023, themed Memperkasa Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah Sebagai Firqah Najiah here today. Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim was in attendance.
Also present were Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, Raja Puan Besar Perak Raja Nazhatul Shima Sultan Idris Shah, Raja Di Hilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah and Raja Puan Muda Perak Tunku Soraya Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah.
Sultan Nazrin said throughout the history of the doctrine of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah, the approach is always moderate and balanced, and not excessive or extreme.
The ruler said Ahli Sunah Wal Jamaah holds that people must strive but understand that Allah determines the results of success and achievement.
“In the practice of the teachings of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah, the mind is given space to think and make interpretations, which is not that far from the claim of nas (dalil), instead of making literal interpretations that show Islam as a rigid and unrealistic religion,” he said.
As such, Sultan Nazrin said the effort to enhance understanding regarding the doctrine and teachings of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah is important.
“This is to ensure that the harmony of the ummah can be guaranteed, other than equipping them with a clear understanding so that they are better prepared to face the threat of the emergence of heresy and inappropriate that could lead to the destruction of oneself, family, society and even the country,” he said.
At the event, Sultan Nazrin also launched two books titled “Mengenal Kesesatan Syiah” and “Jaringan Islam Liberal dan Agenda Pemurtadan Ummah”. – Bernama
