KUALA TERENGGANU – The PTT XCO, Jamborace & Funrace Tasik Kenyir 2023 cycling event on Oct 6 and 7 is expected to attract more than 1,000 participants from all over the country.

He said this was the highest-ever prize value offered in the country for extreme cycling competitions and was being held for the first time in Pulau Poh, Kenyir, which was officially opened last month.

“The programme organised by the Terengganu Inc Sports and Welfare Club (TISAW) offers 10 categories open to cycling enthusiasts aged 12 to 56,” he said at the event’s ‘soft launch’ ceremony at Wisma Darul Iman here, today.

The ceremony was officiated by Terengganu State Secretary Datuk Seri Tengku Farok Husin Tengku Abd Jalil.

According to Hishamuddin, besides promoting Pulau Poh as the country’s new cycling location, the programme indirectly helps the locals generate additional income through the sports-based tourism sector.

He said the topography and strategic position of Pulau Poh had the potential to be developed into a permanent track for various extreme sports activities such as mountain biking.

“The hotel facilities that will soon be completed and opened on Pulau Poh will provide added value and attract tourists and extreme sports enthusiasts to Tasik Kenyir,” he said.- Bernama
