KANGAR – The management and employees of Kolej Universiti Islam Perlis (KUIPs) must strive to find short- and long-term solutions to meet the requirements necessary to achieve full university status, said the Regent of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, who is also KUIPs Chancellor, said that one of the requirements is to have 2,000 students enrolled soon.
“KUIPs should aim for a level five rating in the Rating System for Malaysian Higher Education Institutions (SETARA) for academic, research, publication and governance,” he said at the launching ceremony of KUIPs 10th Anniversary Celebration here today.
Also present were Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli, Perlis Mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, KUIPs rector Assoc Prof Dr Muhamad Rozaimi Ramle and Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) chief executive officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor.
In addition, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said KUIPs should provide more competitive study programmes at the graduate and postgraduate levels.
He also urged the management of KUIPs to strengthen existing policies, particularly in the academic and administrative areas, including staff welfare.
Meanwhile, Muhamad Rozaimi said KUIPs would construct a new campus worth RM200 million in Sungai Chuchuh.
He said the institution would always strive to produce more Islamic technocrats and set an example for other Islamic universities in the country. – Bernama
