STPM 2022: 1,184 candidates score perfect 4.0 CGPA

KUALA LUMPUR – The Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) 2022 results released today showed positive development with 1,184 candidates obtaining a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0 compared to 874 in 2021.

In addition, the STPM 2022 National CGPA also rose to 2.82 compared to 2.79 the previous year.

Negeri Sembilan recorded a CGPA of 2.82 while a total of 108 out of 3,421 candidates in Perak obtained a CGPA of 4.00. The number of candidates who recorded a CGPA of 4.0 in Penang was 73 individuals.

Negeri Sembilan Education Director Dr Roslan Hussin said 1,424 out of 1,441 candidates achieved full passes and got at least a principal pass in one subject, or 98.82 per cent compared to 98.84 per cent in 2021.

“A total of 63 candidates had five principals (4.37 per cent), 1,040 with four principals (72.17 per cent), and 214 with three principals (14.85 per cent),” he said adding that Rembau district topped the chart with a CGPA achievement of 3.01 compared to 3.15 (2021).

Perak State Education Director Mohamad Fauzi Mahson said candidates who got a full pass in five and four subjects in the state also increased to 3,357 compared to 3,337 in 2021.

“Among the schools that had the highest number of students with a CGPA of 4.0 are Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Jalan Tasek; SMK Menglembu; SMK Sam Tet; and SMK St Michael,” he told a press conference at Dewan Canselor Universiti Teknologi Petronas in Seri Iskandar.

In PENANG, State Education Director Abdul Rashid Abdul Samad said the state recorded a CGPA of 2.85, the same achievement as with 2021 candidates.

In PERLIS, State Education Director Naharudeen Othman said for another year running, no candidates failed the examination when out of 443 candidates, a total of 442 candidates or 99.77 per cent achieved full passes while one candidate obtained a partial pass.

In KELANTAN, Deputy Education Director (Learning Sector ) Mohd Hassany Hashim said the state recorded a CGPA of 2.93, involving 3,356 candidates, with 717 candidates or 21.36 per cent obtaining 5 principals, while 2,084 obtained 4 principals.

In JOHOR, State Education Director Md Said Md Daimon said the state had a CGPA of 2.93, and 160 of the 4,311 candidates secured a CGPA of 4.0 with five candidates scoring A’s in all five subjects and another 147 getting 4A’s.

In SABAH, State Education Deputy Director of Planning and Management Mohd Zaini Yanin said the CGPA for the state was 2.72, an increase of 0.01 points compared to 2.71 in 2021, with a total of 324 candidates or 4.63 per cent obtaining 5 principals (5Ps).

“A total of 4,802 candidates obtained 4Ps (68.59 per cent), 1,084 candidates got 3Ps (15.48 per cent), 466 candidates had 2Ps (6.66 per cent) and 245 candidates had one principal pass (3.50 per cent),” he said in Kota Kinabalu.

In TERENGGANU, State Education Deputy Director (Learning Sector) Kasman Embong said that candidates who got straight As increased to 112, compared to 64 n 2021, adding that the state achieved a CGPA of 3.04.

SMK Sultan Sulaiman was named as the best school while SMK Bukit Payong student, Besut, Nurul Iman Asmadi was announced as the best student at the national level, he told the media in Kuala Terengganu.

In PAHANG, State Deputy Director (Learning Sector) Abdul Rahim Mohd Yunus said a total of 2,076 registered candidates, from 41 government schools, recorded the School Average Grade (GPS) of 2.90 points, the same as the previous year.

A total of 1,997 candidates or 99.4 per cent got full passes, which means a full pass in at least one subject.

In SARAWAK, State Education Director Dr Azhar Ahmad said a total of 147 candidates obtained a CGPA of 4.0 in the examination, in addition to 1,002 candidates (35.42 per cent) who obtained a CGPA of between 3.0 and 3.99.

When announcing the results of the examination at SMK Sacred Heart in Kuching today, he said overall, 5,364 school candidates or 98.86 per cent sat for the 2022 cohort compared to 98.42 per cent in 2021.

In KEDAH, State Deputy Director of Education (Learning Sector) Mahadhir Ismail said 40 schools recorded 100 per cent full passes with 84 candidates obtaining a CGPA of 4.00.

“Two candidates from this state were selected to receive awards from the Malaysian Examinations Council for the STPM 2022 Student of the Year category, namely Nursyuhaila Abdullah from the Kulim Sixth Form College and Muhammad Afdhal Danish Mohd Rithauddeen from the Sultan Sallehuddin Sixth Form College in Alor Setar,” he said.

In MELAKA, State Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman said 99.42 per cent of candidates, or 1,199 individuals, in the state obtained full passes in five and four subjects, an increase of 0.39 per cent compared to 2021.

A total of 46 candidates from 14 schools obtained a CGPA of 4.0, with one candidate from Sekolah Menengah Tun Fatimah’s Sixth Form College among the best 20 students in the country. – Bernama
