KUALA LUMPUR – EC-Council Group (EC-Council), the inventor of Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) and a global leader in cybersecurity training and certification, granted a US$1 million (US$1 = RM4.65) Cybersecurity Scholarship to the Malaysian National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA).
The scholarship, which is to cultivate a cyber security workforce in the country, was announced during the prestigious Cyber Defense and Security Exhibition and Conference (CYDES) 2023, witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
According to recent cyber security data and statistics, in 2022, Malaysia witnessed an increase of 47 per cent in cyber crime cases that encompassed various forms of cyber threats, including data breaches, phishing attacks and ransomware incidents.
In a statement today, EC-Council Chief Executive Officer and President Jay Bavisi said this partnership focuses on empowering the country’s youth and businesses in the field of cyber security which aligns with Malaysia’s strategic cyber security initiatives.
“The offered programme will provide aspiring cyber security professionals with access to world-class training and certifications through specialised education such as ethical hacking, incident response, and network defence,” he said.
Bavisi said scholarship recipients will develop the expertise needed to effectively detect, mitigate and respond to evolving cyber threats.
He said that investment in the education and training of new talents empowers the new aspiring cyber security professionals to become the protectors of the digital landscape.
In the same statement, NACSA said that the partnership with the scholarship programme will exemplify the unwavering dedication to foster a highly-skilled cyber security workforce because cyber security serves as a fundamental pillar of progress and resilience.
