KUALA LUMPUR – Ticket sales for the Tier 1 international match between Malaysia and Solomon Islands at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Terengganu on June 14 have been encouraging, with nearly 5,000 tickets sold so far.
Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general Noor Azman Rahman anticipates a lively atmosphere at the friendly encounter as a result of the various programmes that will be held at the stadium grounds.
On the day of the match, he said, there would be a friendly match between former Terengganu players and the former national squad on the synthetic pitch, as well as exhibitions and football tournaments for children.
“I urge fans on the east coast to purchase their tickets as soon as possible. I see that the response has been quite encouraging, especially in comparison to the friendly match in Johor last March, which was held during the fasting month,” he told reporters when met recently.
The national team previously played two international friendly matches at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Johor, in March. They recorded 1-0 and 2-0 victories over Turkmenistan and Hong Kong, respectively.
Meanwhile, Noor Azman said less than 1,000 tickets have been sold so far for the June 20 friendly match against Papua New Guinea at the same venue.
Early this month, FAM, through its official Facebook site, announced that tickets priced at RM30 for open seats and RM5 for children aged 6 to 12 years can be purchased via https://www.tickethotline.com.my/.
FAM also announced that there will be no physical ticket sales at the stadium for the national squad’s matches with the two countries.
The friendlies are a preparation ground for the Harimau Malaya squad ahead of the 2023 Asian Cup, which will take place in Qatar in January next year.
The Bukit Jalil National Stadium, which is the home stadium of the Harimau Malaya, cannot be used for these two friendlies due to grass replacement work at this time. – Bernama
