KUALA LUMPUR – National woman squash ace Rachel Arnold intends to set the record straight at the Asian Individual Squash Championships (AIC) that will be held in Hong Kong from June 6-10.

The world number 27 is all geared up to make up for the disappointment of losing to Hong Kong’s Tong Tsz Wing in the final at the previous AIC in Pakistan two years ago.

“I aim to reach the final again and, hopefully, win the AIC title for the first time.

“Right now, my focus is to improve on my fitness, which I believe can help me go far in the tournament,” she told reporters at the ceremony to announce Kapten Batik and Kaki Jersi as the official sponsors of the AIC-bound squash players at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil, here, yesterday.

Rachel said she also expects a tough time from the other players, including the top-seeded Satomi Watanabe of Japan.

The other women players bound for Hong Kong are Aifa Azman, S. Sivasangari and Noor Ainaa Amani Ampandi while the men’s challenge will be shouldered by defending champion Ng Eain Yow, Ivan Yuen, Muhammad Addeen Idrakie Bahtiar and Mohd Syafiq Kamal. – Bernama
