“In preparation for the monsoon season, APM has intensified its training in the use of rescue equipment and improving personnel’s skills and confidence in an unpredictable situation.

“Training gives exposure to the personnel other than boat operators as well as understanding techniques that are suitable for a particular locality or place,” he said when contacted by Bernama, today.

Mohd Adzhar said the training was held at all APM district branches in Kelantan periodically.

Asked about the strength of personnel, assets and logistics to face the monsoon season, Mohd Adzhar said the state APM has 1,353 personnel who can be mobilised at any time in the event of any disaster.

“In terms of assets, Kelantan APM has 14 four-wheel drive vehicles, lorries (16), ambulances (13), boats and engines (84), trailers (60), generator sets (30) and tents (2,610),” he said.

He also added that solid cooperation of all other relevant agencies is also enhanced to ensure optimal use of other assets and operations. – Bernama
