JOHOR BAHRU – Johor police will tighten control to ensure compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) at premises in this state capital and in Batu Pahat and Kulai following enforcement of the Conditional Movement Control (CMCO) in these areas starting tomorrow.
State police chief, Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said it would not compromise with violations of the SOP set.
He said there would be special teams involving the Ministry of Health, People’s Voluntary Corps (Rela) and other agencies ready to be mobilised to do monitoring and snap checks on SOP compliance.
“Do not wait until we issue compounds or fines or make arrests and many will complain about it,” he told reporters after the handing-over of duties to the new Batu Pahat district police chief at the Johor police contingent headquarters, here, today.
Ayob Khan said that of the 23 roadblocks set up across Johor, 13 still remained for the purpose of ‘Op Benteng’ to curb human trafficking at the state’s west and east coasts.
Yesterday, Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaacob said the CMCO would be implemented in Johor Bahru, Batu Pahat and Kulai from tomorrow until Dec 20, while ending in Mersing today and extended in Kota Tinggi from Dec 7 to 20.
Earlier, in his speech at the event, Ayob Khan congratulated the outgoing Batu Pahat district police chief, ACP Azhan Abdul Halim who is transferred to the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (Intelligence/Special Investigations) as acting SAC.
Supt Ismail Dollah, the police chief of Seri Alam district, Masai, is the new Batu Pahat district police chief with the rank of acting ACP.
