KUALA LUMPUR – Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador has assured that the country’s security and public order is under control even though an emergency has not been declared.

He said the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) remained focussed on the essential task of maintaining law and order as well as enforcing the standard operating procedures (SOP) under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

“RMP staff on the field are continuously directed and reminded to increase SOP enforcement to ease the burden of the Ministry of Health.

“The people are free to carry out their daily activities without having to worry about their security, but subject to the SOPs in their respective areas,” he told Bernama Oct 26.

Abdul Hamid said, however, the police would not compromise with irresponsible individuals found to be causing annoyance and chaos, while warning that the department was constantly monitoring the activities throughout the country.
