WASHINGTON – The United Nations (UN) announced on Monday that a total of 61 trucks carrying essential supplies such as medical provisions, food, and water have been successfully delivered to northern Gaza during the temporary halt in hostilities.

Another 200 trucks were dispatched to the Gaza Strip from Nitzana, Israel, with 187 of them crossing the border by the evening.

As part of the relief efforts, 11 ambulances, three minibuses, and a truck were sent to Al-Shifa hospital, which has experienced intense conflict recently, to aid in the evacuation process.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), further aid shipments are anticipated if the ceasefire continues.

The organization expressed gratitude to Palestine and the Egyptian Red Crescent group for facilitating the humanitarian efforts.

Additionally, OCHA welcomed the release of more hostages and reiterated its call for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages and detainees.

The ongoing exchange of prisoners for hostages is set to continue, with Hamas expected to release 50 hostages during the four-day ceasefire, in exchange for 150 Palestinian prisoners.

The agreement was brokered by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States (US).

Israel’s recent attacks have lead to over 15,000 deaths, predominantly among civilians, marking one of the bloodiest conflicts in history involving mortar fire, artillery, and sea, air, and ground assaults.
