SEREMBAN – The i-DEEN programme has helped clients of the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) in showcasing their talents and self-confidence to start a better life.
AADK director-general Sutekno Ahmad Belon said i-DEEN had been organised for the past three years as part of the agency’s efforts to eradicate society’s stigma towards their clients who have recovered from the Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Centre (Puspen).
“This programme is a method of translating the clients’ knowledge and skills through a psychospiritual approach given to all clients under the AADK Treatment and Rehabilitation Programme.
“Clients are given the opportunity to showcase talents they have, thus raising confidence and awareness that good things will bear good results,” he told reporters after the i-DEEN 2022 closing ceremony that was officiated by Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun at Pusat Dakwah Islamiah Paroi here.
A total of 264 clients undergoing the Treatment and Rehabilitation in Institutions (RPDI) and Treatment and Rehabilitation in Community (RPDK) programmes are involved in the i-DEEN programme this time.
He said the programme was able to create human capital with an identity by making Islam the way to a better life.
He explained that i-DEEN applied elements of spirituality and informative entertainment through four competitions, namely Tilawah al-Quran, Azan, Syarahan Tafsir and Lagu Ketuhanan.
“It is hoped that clients who participate in these competitions will become agents of change and bring a positive aura in overcoming the challenges of recovery in managing stress and stigma,” he said.
He said most of the AADK clients who joined the programme were very talented, especially in the singing competition by penning their own songs.
He added that, so far, about 4,000 AADK clients are placed in 28 Puspen and 70,000 are undergoing rehabilitation in the community.
