Legendary goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel thinks Christian Eriksen will be able to handle the pressure to “create goals” at Man Utd.

Eriksen joined the Red Devils earlier this month on a free transfer after leaving Brentford at the end of June.

The Denmark international spent the second half of last season with the Bees after he wasn’t allowed to play in Serie A for Inter Milan because of regulations around playing with an ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator).

Schmeichel thinks his compatriot is a “class player” and he’s tipped Eriksen to make a big “impression” at Man Utd this season.

“All due respect to Thomas Frank and Brentford, but Christian Eriksen is ambitious and he has become even more ambitious after his accident,” Schmeichel told Tipsbladet.

“I couldn’t see him taking a chance with Antonio Conte again, nor could I see him staying. And since United have been on the pitch before, the move didn’t surprise me.

“Christian Eriksen is a class player, and we need them at United. It’s great to get a Dane to the club. That makes it more interesting for me.

“He must see it as a great opportunity to make an impression on football. It is a big club that needs to be turned around, and if Christian Eriksen can take part in it, it will be a huge thing.”
