KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a severe-level warning for continuous heavy rain in Kelantan and Terengganu until Wednesday, November 22.
According to a statement released today, MetMalaysia identified specific areas in Kelantan, including Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, and Pasir Puteh, as being affected. In Terengganu, the warning extends to Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, and Marang.
MetMalaysia defines a severe-level warning as one issued when there are indications that continuous heavy rain is expected to occur, with the anticipated amount exceeding 60mm within a six-hour period.
Additionally, Kelantan areas such as Jeli and Kuala Krai, as well as Terengganu areas Hulu Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman, are expected to experience continuous rains at an alert level. The alert level also extends to Pahang, particularly the Kuantan area during the same period.
Similar weather conditions are anticipated in Kedah, covering Yan, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu, as well as in Penang and Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang, Selama, Manjung) on November 22 to 23 (Thursday).
