On the 9th – 10th January, I had the opportunity to travel to Pakistan with YB Maulana Ustaz Shahril Azman, Jengka Assemblyman on the invitation to attend and deliver a speech at the Imam Al – Maududi International Seminar in conjunction with the 75th anniversary of Jamaat Islami Pakistan.
At the seminar, my speech touched on al-Maududi’s role in giving awareness to Muslims about a comprehensive understanding of Islam, especially about Islamic politics. Al-Maududi is famous through his moderate thought which is translated in his writing, widely translated into various languages especially in Arabic and English.

One of his approaches is the use of intellectual reasoning, especially his famous book of interpretation, Tafhim Al-Quran, which is in line with Fi Zilal al-Quran by al-Syahid Syed Qutb.
Sayyid Abu A’la Maududi was the founder and first leader of Jamaat Islami Pakistan. He was the foremost scholar, philosopher, historian, journalist and activist during the British colonial period in India and was called the most systematic modern Islamic thinker by Wilfred Cantwell Smith, the founder of the Institute of Islamic Studies at McGill University, Canada and who is also the Director of the Center for the Study of World Religions , Harvard University, USA.
He played a big role in the empowerment of Islam in Pakistan when General Muhammad Zia ul-Haq became the Prime Minister of Pakistan by introducing Islamic Sharia in the administration of Pakistan and he together with General Muhammad Zia ul-Haq made Pakistan at that time the ” global center ” for Islamic politics.
Sayyid Abu A’la Maududi was the first recipient of the ” King Faisal International Award ” from the Government of Saudi Arabia in 1979 for his services to Islam and played an important role in the establishment and progress of the Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia. He is recognized and praised by many Islamic bodies and organizations including Jamaat e-Islami, Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Islamic Organization of North America and many more.

Sayyid Abu A’la Maududi died on September 22, 1979 in Buffalo, New York, USA. His service is extremely tremendous to all Muslims, especially in relation to Islamic politics, as well as playing a big role in Pakistan’s politics during his lifetime.
Next, I had the opportunity to meet with Maulana Sirajul Alhaq, Amir of Jamaat Islami Pakistan and the leaders of Jamaat Islami Pakistan in Mansoorah, Lahore, Pakistan. This very valuable opportunity is filled with dialogue and exchange of views, especially regarding the current situation in the Islamic world.
At the same time, I also delivered donations and aid for the victims of the great flood that hit Pakistan at the end of last year from the NGO PAS Relief which was delivered to KHIDMAT, an NGO under Jamaat Islami Pakistan in the hope of helping Pakistanis who are currently facing with a very challenging situation.
The opportunity to help and donate is still open, therefore I call on Malaysians to help Pakistan and its citizens who are currently in a very difficult situation in their daily lives. Either in large or small amount of donations, it can at least help to ease the burden they are currently facing.
Inshallah NGO PAS Relief will lead this noble effort and you can channel your donation to NGO PAS Relief. Let’s all help Pakistan and its citizens so that they can overcome the challenging situation at the moment and rise up to build their lives as before.
May Pakistan and its citizens persevere throughout the challenges, protected and blessed by Allah SWT.
Prosperous Malaysia.
