PASIR MAS – Being a flood victim herself does not stop a Harakah journalist, Siti Nur Ain Abdul Manaf, from reporting the current situation of the disaster in Kelantan.

The 27-year-old Siti Nur Ain from Kampung Repek said her family’s home was inundated by up to two metres of floodwaters since Sunday, forcing them to evacuate to the relief centre (PPS) at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Kiambang here.

Speaking to Bernama, the third of six siblings said the situation was worse than the previous incident as the water rose too quickly.

“My family didn’t have time to save all our belongings. We were only able to save important documents and some essential items,” she said.

Siti Nur Ain, who has been working in the field for the past four years, said she is determined to keep her spirits up to continue her work.

“Before this, I only reported on the situation of the local community affected by the disaster. It never crossed my mind that I would be one of them.

“However, I’m thankful to see that the floodwaters around here have started to recede. I hope the situation will improve soon so people can return home and continue on with their lives,” she said.

As of 2 pm, 26,573 people from 8,231 families are still housed at 96 PPS throughout Kelantan. – Bernama
