SIBU – Fuel stations have evolved to offer much more to satisfy customers, like food and other necessities, but now the Petronas filling stations in Sibu will be aiding the homeless by stocking their shelves with handicraft made by them.

Petronas Dagangan Bhd Sarawak regional sales manager, Abby Mohamad, said the stations will also have donation boxes to collect funds for the transit centres (TTG) housing the homeless as well as teaching them craft skills.

“There are 15 Petronas fuel stations in Sibu and the donation boxes will be placed at the payment counter.

“We will start selling handicraft like hand woven bags from TTG Sibu at seven stations starting with this one in Lanang Barat and from December,” Abby said at the launch of the ‘Another Chance for the Homeless’ project today.

The Sibu Resident’s Office had invited Petronas Sarawak to become TTG Sibu’s strategic partner since the beginning of the year in order to create awareness about the homeless.

Abby said that several corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, such as a buka puasa event and a donation cum recycling event, have been held with TTG Sibu this year. – Bernama
