SEREMBAN – Premier League champions Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) have been forced to withdraw from the ongoing Malaysia Cup campaign after 20 of their players and four officials tested positive for COVID-19.

The NSFC said that those infected were undergoing compulsory home quarantine as well as being monitored for 10 days by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

“Continuous COVID-19 detection tests are being carried out for close contacts of the NSFC players and officials involved.

“For the safety of all parties as well as on the recommendation of the team doctor, the NSFC would like to apologise to the fans because the team will not be able to continue their campaign in the Malaysia Cup competition,” the NSFC said in a statement that was uploaded to the team’s official Facebook page today.

This had also resulted in the cancellation of NSFC’s friendly against Kuching City FC, which was supposed to have been held two days ago.

“The NSFC hope that the fans will continue to support the team and pray for the wellbeing of the players and officials,” the statement added.
