TANJONG MALIM – Graduates who participate in the National Economic Recovery Plan (Penjana) of the Ministry of Higher Education-Career Advancement Programme (KPT-CAP) which was held for the first time at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) will benefit in meeting the needs of the industry.
UPSI Entrepreneurial Development and Graduate Employability director Dr Sharul Effendy Janudin said the collaboration programme with the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) and The Ship Campus was to help improve the employment marketability of graduates affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Secure job placements and training are arranged to meet the needs of the company where participants will be given training to become competent and skilled employees.
“For those who attended this programme, the company must offer a job because this project is a ‘place and train’ category where we have made an agreement with the company involved when the application is made and must be supported by an LOC (Letter of Commitment),” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Sharul Effendy said UPSI had received a fund of RM79,000 from the MOHE and hoped that the 15 graduates who participated in the programme could meet the needs of the industry and become more knowledgeable.
“This is the result of the initiative of the Department of Communication and Media, Faculty of Language and Communication UPSI through the MyFuture Media Specialist Programme,” he said.
The programme which started yesterday will end on Oct 29.
Earlier, it was reported that Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad was targeting 20,000 graduates to benefit through the Penjana KPT-CAP programme.
