KUALA LUMPUR – Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) head coach Benjamin Mora said that his team members are not ‘superman’ after enduring another match without a win.
JDT were held to a 1-1 draw against Kuala Lumpur (KL) City FC in 2021 Super League match at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Cheras last night.
Mora admitted that there was a time whereby every team had their own setback and his team were no exception.
“We still have games to play after this, we could perhaps maintain first place by trying to work hard, even harder,” he told the post-match press conference last night.
Last weekend, Terengganu FC recorded a shocking 1-0 win, thanks to a goal by Mohamad Hakimi Abdullah in the second half, against the league defending champion at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri in Johor, thus ending JDT’s 21-match unbeaten streak since July 2019.
Terengganu FC with 21 points is currently third in the league and have a game in hand, could move a point level with JDT (24 points) at the league summit should they win the tie against Penang FC tonight.
Meanwhile, Kedah Darul Aman FC were just a point shy against the Southern Tigers with 23 points after beating Melaka United FC, 3-1 away from home last night.
Mora however was impressed with KL City FC compact display that denied their chance to get back to winning ways.
The 41-year-old Mexican coach said his team played with high intensity and pressed KL City FC for winning goal after JDT’s captain Harris Harun equalised in the 55th minute. The home team were 1-0 ahead just before half-time through Romel Morales.
KL City FC coach Bojan Hodak described the draw as a fair result against the best team in the league, but gutted that his team could not convert a few chances to win the game.
