KOTA BHARU – Cosmetic products worth RM122,463, believed to be from Thailand, were seized by a team from the 8th battalion of the General Operations Force (GOF) in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas, last night.

GOF8 commanding officer, Supt Muhamad Samsuddin said in the 8.30 pm operation, members of its strike force were on an ‘Op Benteng’ patrol duty when they became suspicious of a lorry travelling along Rantau Panjang town’s main road.

He said its driver, in his 40’s, was then instructed to stop by the roadside for an inspection.

“The lorry was found to be carrying boxes of fruits and vegetables. However, further inspection found a brown box containing cosmetics from various brands and believed to have been smuggled from Thailand.

“Upon interrogation, the driver failed to show any documents pertaining to the items,” he said, adding that the man was detained and handed over together with the cosmetics to the Pharmaceutical Enforcement Branch of the Kelantan Health Department.
