KUALA NERUS – Terengganu FC (TFC) fans can heave a sigh of relief now that it is confirmed chief coach Nafuzi Zain will continue to guide the Turtles next season.
The good news was conveyed by Terengganu Football Association (TFA) deputy president Hishamuddin Abd Karim, who said TFC had done well under the guidance of the Kelantan-born coach.
“I can give an assurance that Nafuzi is with TFC (next season)… We somewhat failed in 2019 but in 2020 we met our target and were on the right track,” he said here today.
Under Nafuzi, TFC finished third in the 2020 Super League and gained an automatic slot to the 2021 AFC Cup after the Malaysia Cup was cancelled at the quarterfinal stage because of the imposition of the Conditional Movement Control Order due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hishamuddin said there would be major changes to the team to strengthen their challenge for next season, including the AFC Cup.
However, TFC was not targeting big names as it was mindful of its budget, he added.
