BAGAN SERAI – Residents in Kampung Parit Jay and Kampung Parit Haji Ismail 3 here have urged the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) to take immediate action to solve the issue of wild boar intrusions in the villages.

Kampung Parit Jay resident Muhamad Firdaus Abdul Fatah, 32, claimed that the wild boars have destroyed crops especially those in unfenced areas, causing them to incur losses.

“We can see their presence regardless of the time in our residence and this has caused great fear among us,” he said when met here today.

Muhamad Firdaus also expressed worry that the number of the wild boars would increase if necessary action to tackle the issue was not taken immediately.

Kampung Parit Haji Ismail 3 resident Sarimah Ismail, 30, said she was worried about the safety of the villagers especially children as wild boars can be very aggressive when they feel threatened.

“They can also pose danger to road users especially motorcyclists especially at night,” she said.

She hoped that Perhilitan could find ways to resolve the problem that has been going on since last year.
