KUALA LUMPUR – PAS has urged that political parties entrusted by His Majesty (the Yang di-Pertuan Agong) to form the ruling government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin be given full support instead of being disturbed relentlessly.

PAS secretary-general, Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said this was important to enable the government to function well and effectively, besides focusing on efforts in tackling the resurgence of COVID-19 infections as well as on the economic recovery measures.

“The Cabinet comprising BN (Barisan Nasional) parties, PN (Perikatan Nasional), GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak), PAS and GRS (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah) have to act collectively and responsibly by giving priority to and focusing on the people’s well-being.

“PAS pledges loyalty to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah over His Majesty’s wisdom in resolving any crisis including political crisis which has resulted in calm, harmony and stability in the country,” he said.

On Tuesday, Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was granted an audience with the King at Istana Negara where he claimed to have the support of over 120 Members of Parliament to form a new federal government.

However, according to a statement from Istana Negara, Anwar had only stated the number of MPs claimed to be supporting him to form a government but without providing the names of the individuals involved to support his claim.

Consequently, Al-Sultan Abdullah advised Anwar to abide by and respect the legal processes as stipulated in the Federal Constitution.
