Man under quarantine detained at shoplot in PJ

KUALA LUMPUR – Police detained an elderly man for allegedly violating the COVID-19 mandatory quarantine order.

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the 63-year-old man who was wearing a pink quarantine wristband was spotted loitering at a shoplot area in Damansara Perdana near here yesterday.

“The man was detained at 11.43 am following public complaints.

“It is learnt that the man had just returned from Sabah and was ordered to undergo self-quarantine at home from Sept 28 to Oct 11,” he told Bernama adding that the man has tested negative for COVID-19.

Nik Ezanee said it was also found that the man had tried to cover the wristband using a white cloth.

He said police would seek a remand order from the Petaling Jaya court tomorrow and the case was being investigated under Section under Section 15(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
