PUTRAJAYA – The 2020 National Counselling Month will be celebrated throughout October to raise awareness of the professional counselling service as one of the important support systems in creating well-being in society.
According to the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry in a statement today, the celebration, themed ‘Kaunseling Ke Arah Kesejahteraan Masyarakat’ (Counselling Towards Society’s Well-being), is aimed at enhancing accessibility to professional counselling services and promoting the service to society.
“The ministry is really committed to (carrying out) continuous efforts to increase society’s awareness of the importance of the professional counselling service,” it said.
In conjunction with the celebration, numerous programmes have been lined up, not only by government agencies, but also by non-governmental organisations that handle counselling services, for all levels of society.
The ministry also expressed hope that registered counsellors would continue to equip themselves with appropriate knowledge and skills.
