Chile conducts record number of Covid-19 tests

SANTIAGO – Chile has undertaken a record number of tests in recent days to detect COVID-19, reported Xinhua news agency, quoting Chilean Health Minister Enrique Paris on Sunday.

“We have reached a record figure in the last three days in taking PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), totaling 115,219,” said Paris, highlighting the efforts being made nationwide to detect new cases in time.

Chile has conducted 3,228,414 tests since March, he added.

According to the Ministry of Health, as of Sunday, 457,901 Chilean people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus since the epidemic broke out, with 1,923 new cases confirmed over the past day.

In the same period, 50 more COVID-19 patients died, bringing the death toll to 12,641.
