IPOH – There is no need for any parties organising group cycling activities in Perak to obtain police permit for the time being.

However, organisers are advised to limit the number of cyclists in such activities to not more 50 people in view of the current Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

Acting Perak police chief Datuk Goh Boon Keng said they are however required to inform police to obtain assistance for safety and traffic control as such group activities are subject to the Peaceful Assembly Act.

“They only need to inform police as there is no need for permit for cycling.

“As an example, police recently gave assistance to ensure safety in several areas which held group cycling to carrying the national flag in conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day,” he told reporters after attending the Annual Police Buddha Dharma Prayers and Talk to commemorate the 213rd Police Day here today.
