Kedah beats Felda FC, climbs to second place

KUALA LUMPUR – Kedah came back from behind to beat Felda United FC 2-1 at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka Sept 12 to climb up to second place in the Super League table.

Felda United took the lead with a powerful header from Muhammad Syahmi Zamri at the end of the first half, but the Lang Merah squad bounced back through goals from Ivory Coast import striker Tchetche Kipre in the 48th minute and Muhammad Hadin Azman in the 66th minute.

With 13 points through seven matches so far, Kedah are now six points behind defending champions and table toppers, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT).

Pahang also grabbed full points after recording a 2-1 victory over bottom of the table club – Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) – at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan.

Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya (PJ) City FC failed to take home advantage and distance themselves from the relegation zone after being held to a 1-1 draw by Sabah at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium.

In Premier League action, Penang remained top of the standings with 17 points after beating JDT II 2-1 at the Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium in Larkin.

The Panthers pounced early via Muhamad Khairu Azrin Khazali’s goal in the fourth minute, before the home team responded through Muhamad Feroz B. Baharudin in the 30th minute, but Endrick Dos Santos Parafita confirmed victory for the visitors in the 44th minute.

Despite drubbing Terengganu FC II 4-1 at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras, the City Boys remain in second place behind Penang on goal difference.

At the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in Kota Bharu, Kelantan achieved a slim 1-0 victory over Perak II through Nik Akif Syahiran Nik Mat’s goal in the 45th minute.

Selangor 2 lost 1-2 to Negeri Sembilan at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi, while Kuching City FC beat Sarawak United 2-1 at the State Stadium, Sarawak.
