Limited business hours in Kulim – Kedah MB

ALOR SETAR – Kulim Municipal Council (MPKK) has limited the business operating hours in several sub-districts effective yesterday due to the spread of COVID-19.

Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the decision was made in line with the jurisdiction of the state government and local authorities.

“All actions under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342) are under the jurisdiction of the federal government except the powers allocated to the state government and local authorities (PBT).

“So the power allocated under the local authority is to limit the activities of business premises from 12 midnight to 8 pm,” he said in a press conference after chairing the state executive council meeting here today.

According to the notice uploaded on the PBT Facebook page, all businesses in the mukim or sub-districts involved, namely Mukim Keladi, Mukim Padang Cina, Kawasan Kelang Lama, Mukim Karangan and Mukim Padang Meha were only allowed to operate from 8 am to 8 pm.

However, exceptions are given to petrol stations, private clinics, wholesale markets and factories that have received operational approval from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.

As for the food business premises, they are only allowed to sell by take away or drive by. The public or traders are to refer to the notice for detailed information on the areas involved.
