KOTA BHARU – The Kelantan government has allocated RM150,000 in accommodation vouchers to 50 hotels in the state to revive the state tourism industry which was adversely affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
State Unity, Culture, Heritage and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Md Anizam Ab Rahman said each hotel would receive 100 vouchers worth RM30 each.
He said this involved 14 hotels registered with the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) and 36 hotels registered with the Malaysia Budget Hotel Association (MYBHA).
“This initiative is expected to attract tourists to stay in the hotels and help the industry players to offer quality services and a variety of products to them.
“It demonstrates the state government’s concern in helping the tourism industry affected by the COVID-19 pandemic besides helping to promote the Visit Kelantan Year 2020,” he told reporters after the voucher presentation ceremony here today.
Md Anizam also said that 55 hotels and tourism accommodation premises in the state have undergone cleaning and disinfection works in an effort to boost travellers’ confidence.
